SMYRNA SPRING SPORTS INFORMATION
Spring Sports start Monday February 27th, 2023
- All Students that are interested in trying out for a Spring Sport MUST have a DIAA physical on File with the athletic department. If you need the DIAA Form please click on the link to the left "Parent Information" and click on the DIAA Physical form to download the document.
- Locker rooms will be assigned per sport and once the teams have been selected locker will be given to all athletes.

2022-2023 Winter Season Tryout Information
All athletes interested in participating in winter sports must have a current DIAA physical on file with the athletic department dated after 4-1-2022
Boys Basketball:
Boys Basketball tryout dates. (Any member of the Varsity football team will try out on the practice date immediately following the conclusion of their season.)
Nov 7th 2:30-4:30 (Exclude FRESHMAN and JV football players)
Nov 8th 8:00-10:00am (All expected to attend)
Nov 9th 2:30-4:30 (Exclude FRESHMAN football)
Nov 10th 2:30-4:30 (All expected to attend)
Girls Basketball:
Girls Basketball tryout dates.
Any member of a fall sport that is still participating in their playoffs or regular season will tryout on the practice date immediately following the conclusion of their season. Any fall athlete who are interested in trying out please email the coaching staff at the email address found on eagles-sports.com under girls basketball.

Cheerleading:
Winter Cheer Tryouts will be Monday, November 14th through Wednesday, November 16th. Tryout practices will be on the 14th & 15th from 2:45 pm - 4:30 pm in the Main Gym Lobby. Final tryouts will be on Wednesday, November 16th beginning at 3:00 pm and going until conclusion in the Main Gym Lobby. For those that make the team, the first practice will be on Monday, November 28th. Please follow @smyrnacheer on Instagram for additional information.
Wrestling:
All freshmen and new wrestlers please see Coach Harris prior to the start of practices

Athletic Awards Ceremony UPDATE!!!
The 2021 Smyrna High School Athletic Awards Ceremony
will stream on SHS Athletics-Delaware on Wednesday June 2nd starting at 6:30. This is a change due to the fact the the Smyrna Eagles Girls Soccer team will be playing in the DIAA D1 State Championship game on June 1st at 5:00 at Dover High School.

Smyrna SD Spring Sports AthletiUpdated Mask Policy
Updated Smyrna SD Athletic Mask Policy
Governor Carney issued the Tenth Revision to the 27th Modification of the State of Emergency Declaration which addressed face coverings for interscholastic sports. The revision provides guidance on the use of face coverings for DIAA spring sports during competition in non-high-risk sports. The updated guidance takes effect Wednesday, April 28 at 8am. Per the guidance, DIAA spring sport student athletes (baseball, golf, girls soccer, girls lacrosse, softball, tennis and track and field) must wear face coverings except when actively engaged in practice or game play while on the field. Face coverings should be worn on the sidelines and all other times when athletes are not engaged in active play.
There is no change to face covering requirements for boys lacrosse athletes, coaches, officials, event staff or spectators.

Smyrna High School Spectator Policy
Smyrna School District Spectator Policy Fall 2020
- All fall sporting events are open exclusively to home spectators.
- Each student-athlete will be permitted two guests to attend home sporting events using electronic ticket access via a QR code. Each guest must be at least 18 years of age. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted.
- Each student-athlete will be required to electronically submit their two guests’ names and contact numbers (for contract tracing purposes) at least 24 hours prior to the start of the specific sporting event.
- Home spectators are required to wear a face covering at all times.
- Spectators must be seated in the bleachers. Standing in front of the bleachers, along the fences inside or outside the stadium or elsewhere on school grounds is not permitted. While seated in the bleachers, all nonfamily members must adhere to social distance requirements (6 feet apart).
- Any spectator not adhering to this Smyrna School District Spectator Policy for any contest will be required to leave the event and exit the property. Additionally, that spectator will be denied access to any events for the remainder of the fall sports season.
- At the conclusion of the sporting event, all spectators must report to their vehicles immediately and exit the property.

Sports Physicals for 2024-2025 Sports Seasons
2024-2025 DIAA Sports Physicals:
Any student athlete planning on trying out for a 2024-2025 sport will need a physical completed after April1st, 2024. The 2024-2025 DIAA Physical Form is available currently and can be completed here at Smyrna HIgh School Wellness Center. For information on Smyrna High School Wellness Center call 302-653-2399.
